It creates a welcoming environment that lets everyone know that being different isn't bad and that everyone deserves a friend
Friendship Circle also helps educates the volunteers about how to work and adapt to kids with special needs to make sure they feel comfortable and safe. It also teaches you about the different kinds of special needs and disabilities to make sure all the special friends
What is my Role in Friendship Circle?
You are able to join Friendship Circle as a volunteer when you are in 8th grade. But because my Bat Mitzvah project was Friendship Circle I was able to join in 7th grade.
I have since been a volunteer in Friendship Circle and am so excited to continue this coming year, and for all of high school.
My Friendship Circle Experience
Since I was in elementary school I would help raise money for Jeremy's Jump, the Friendship Circle fundraiser in honor of a boy names Jeremy who used to be in friendship circle until he passed.
When fundraiser changed to the pajama walk, I would also raise money for that.
Each year I take part in the pajama walk and then help run one of the booths or other games at the carnival that takes part afterwards. I'm looking forward to the pajama walk this year!
